Zoom SSH-6 Stereo Shotgun Microphone Capsule Kit with H5 Remote Control

Bundled together for your convenience by B&H, the Zoom SSH-6 Stereo Shotgun Microphone Capsule Kit is intended for use with the Zoom H5 Handy Recorder, and includes both the microphone and an Auray RC-ZH5 Remote Control.

The microphone’s capsule features an interchangeable design, and gives you the ability to record audio in M/S (mid/side), which allows you to mix direct and ambient sounds together. It’s designed to record audio on location, and because of the mic’s stereo design, one of its channels will pick up center information, while the other will capture the sides; this ensures its mono capability. Included are a hairy windscreen and an Auray RC-ZH5 Remote for the Zoom H5.

The remote allows you to control the H5 from up to 4′ away, giving you the ability to record, play, stop, pause, fast-forward, rewind, and scrub audio. It features integrated cable management for its 4′ cable.

The Zoom SSH-6 Stereo Shotgun Microphone Capsule is designed to work with the company’s H5 and H6 audio recorders as well as the hybrid Q8 audio and video recorder and their U-44. The capsule includes a super-directional microphone for picking up sound on center that can be combined with a bidirectional side microphone for picking up sound from the left or right to record a fully mono-compatible stereo image for film, video, and television projects. For example, you can record dialogue with the center microphone and then mix the desired amount of environmental sound captured by the side microphone with the Zoom recorder. A hairy windscreen is included for helping reduce wind noise.

Allowing you to control record, play, pause, stop, and scrub functions on your Zoom H5 Handy recorder from up to 4′ away, the RC-ZH5 Remote Control for Zoom H5 Handy Recorder from Auray can be used to prevent handling noise while recording. The remote allows you to create and scan through markers, while the built-in recording and clip indicators provide you with visual feedback. A stereo record enable function lets you create a stereo pair when using external stereo microphones, or alternatively each XLR input can be record enabled independently. The RC-ZH5 requires no batteries for operation, and has integrated cable management for its 4′ long cable.
