Connect the FOCUS Bolt 500 TX to your camera and give your director or focus puller the FOCUS Bolt 500 RX and you can view HD video without cables (other than the HDMI connection to the video source). The small sizes of the TX and RX monitors make them easy to mount on a camera or rig or use handheld. With the TX monitor you get the FOCUS tilt arm, and with the RX you get the monitor, rubber handles, and a neck strap.

The ?SmallHD FOCUS Bolt 500 TX On-Camera Monitor ?combines SmallHD’s popular FOCUS monitor with Teradek’s Bolt 500 wireless transmitter, all in a single unit. Using the built-in transmission, the Focus Bolt can send uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2 HD video to a Teradek Bolt 500, Bolt 500 LT, Bolt 500 XT, or Sidekick II receiver, or to a SmallHD FOCUS Bolt 500 RX or 703 Bolt monitor, up to 500′ away. What’s more is this monitor fits right atop your camera’s accessory shoe using the included tilt-arm. An L-series battery kit, cable clips, matte and glossy screen protectors, a cleaning cloth, and an assortment of HDMI cables are included as well.

Display-wise, the FOCUS Bolt 500 TX is based off the same display and I/O as the well-regarded standard FOCUS models. The bright, 800 cd/m2, 1280 x 720 touchscreen IPS LCD panel can be viewed in daylight, and is driven by a single micro-HDMI input. Using the intuitive Swipe OS, you can turn on various monitoring tools like waveform, false color, and vectorscope, as well as focusing aids like peaking, with a tap. If your camera outputs UHD 4K over HDMI, the FOCUS will support that input resolution as well as HD and SD inputs. At the rear of the monitor, a single NP-F battery bay accepts the included available L-series battery for power, while an integrated power output can also power your camera with a separately available DC coupler.

Built on SmallHD’s intuitive PageBuilder OS, Swipe OS offers the same intuitiveness of a graphical user interface (GUI), though with touchscreen navigation. Rather than have confusing menus, this GUI allows you to selectively apply monitoring tools such as waveform, vectorscope, and focusing aids to up to 12 different “pages”. Using the touchscreen, swipe through different preset pages and toggle monitoring tools on or off with ease.

Camera Setup Integration

This monitor complements smaller cameras by providing power output and a headphone jack. The power output lets you power your camera directly from the NP-F battery mounted on the monitor, increasing runtimes over the standard batteries of many mirrorless cameras. If your camera doesn’t have a headphone jack, the FOCUS de-embeds the audio from the HDMI stream for real-time feedback of audio.

Convenient Mounting

The FOCUS monitor secures to your camera using the included FOCUS Tilt Arm via shoe mount or 1/4″-20 thread. The Tilt Arm enables 180 ? of tilt for convenient monitoring at nearly any angle. A cold shoe on the Tilt Arm lets you secure equipment (like a microphone, or LED light) that would otherwise be displaced from the camera’s accessory shoe.

Side-by-side preview can also be used with the HDR preview function. Separate LUT-treated images can be sent downstream over SDI and HDMI so you can have the 1303 display a log image or LUT-treated image, while the director or client monitors connected to the outputs can receive images treated with a different LUT. An image-capture function saves a still frame from the incoming video stream onto an SD card and also records the applied 3D LUT for post-production reference. Color Intelligence Engine When a separately available color probe is connected to the monitor via USB, the SmallHD 1303 can automatically adjust a 10-bit 3D calibration LUT for maintaining accurate color reproduction over the life of the monitor. RapidRail Shoe-Mount System Quickly secure and detach accessories such as wireless units to the rear of the monitor using standard shoe-mount rails. This saves time over traditional screw-mounted methods and keeps your setup clean and neat. If required these accessories can be powered straight off the monitor using the integrated 12V LEMO power output or the 3 USB ports. Power Options Separately available V-mount or Gold-mount battery plates can be attached to the rear of the display. A mounted battery can power the monitor as well as attached accessories through the 12V LEMO connection.
