Description

The NiSi Explorer Collection ?150x150mm Nano IR Neutral Density filter ? ND64 (1.8) ? 6 Stop is part of our Explorer Series for made for adventure. The filters feature a special glass hardening process that makes them double the strength ?of a typical glass filter. ?The Explorer series are much less prone to accidental breakage and perfect for active photographers.

Neutral density (ND) filters uniformly reduce the amount of light entering the lens. ?ND Filters can enable greater motion blurring and image detail by allowing a large aperture and a slow shutter speed. ?ND filters are also helpful when the contrast between the highlights and shadows is too high to get a quality exposure. The ND64 6 stops ND filter is generally used during the golden hour to create exposures of 1-2 minutes for smooth water or clouds. ?A 6 Stop is also great for capturing dynamic water while retaining some texture before the golden hour.

NiSi ND filters do not affect the coloration of the image, offer a true to life color, and are made from high-quality optical glass (not resin) with nano coating to prevent losing any single bit of detail. ?By using neutral density filter the camera is vulnerable to infrared light which will cast the unwanted red color to the photos when shooting at a small aperture. NiSi ND filters have an infrared protection coating layer to eliminate the infrared light through the lens to bring back the natural true to life color.

The NiSi Explorer Collection is made from B270 tempered glass. ?It features the same Nano coating process as our optical glass filters. ?This filter is tempered and hardened making it much less prone to accidental ?damage but this does not mean it is unbreakable. ?After a long period of time, the hardening may decline.

This 150x150mm filter is compatible ?with the NiSi 150mm filter system.

It can be applied to darken bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. This filter achieves its effect with a 0.9 band of density across its center region that provides a 3-stop reduction in light from entering a lens. This band extends approximately 4mm in both vertical directions which tapers to a 0.15 density that provides a 0.5-stop reduction in light at the edge above it. Directly below the 0.9 band of density, it tapers to clear, with a hard-edged line of transition before the clear area. The placement of a 0.9 band of density that tapers to a density of 0.15 above it with a clear area directly below, allows the NiSi 100 x 150mm Nano Reverse-Graduated IRND 0.9 to 0.15 Filter to match the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above the horizon. In such instances, the sun can appear closer to the center of an image as opposed to the upper edge, and an increase in brightness is created that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it. This pattern of brightness corresponds to the density pattern on the NiSi 100 x 150mm Nano Hard-Edge Reverse-Graduated IRND 0.9 to 0.15 Filter. The hard-edged line of transition in this reverse, graduated neutral density filter is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land, while the 3-stop to 0.5-stop gradation is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky.
  • Compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 2mm-thick, 100 x 150mm rectangular filters
  • Effectively darkens bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image
  • 3-stop band of density that tapers to a 0.5-stop density at the edge above it while directly above a clear area creates a neutral density pattern that matches the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above the horizon
  • 3-stop band of density extends approximately 4mm in both vertical directions
  • Density pattern corresponds to the brightness pattern of the sun when it appears at or is closer to the horizon as opposed to a higher angle, which creates an increase in brightness that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it
  • Hard-edged line of transition between the 3-stop band of density and the clear area below it is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land
  • 3-stop to 0.5-stop gradation is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky
  • Filter does not affect the overall coloration of the image
  • Each surface includes one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared light as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts due to increased exposure times
  • Nano coating provides an improved beading effect with water or oil for more efficient cleaning
  • Constructed from optical glass for clarity
  • Leatherette pouch included for storage and transport
How to Use ND Filters: Beyond the BasicsThe NiSi 100 x 100mm Nano IRND 4.5 Filter is an ND filter with a 32,000x filter factor that provides a 15-stop exposure reduction. Its 4.5 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters. The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks when using the NiSi 100 x 100mm Nano IRND 4.5 Filter, one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Nano coating associated with this filter also results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency. This NiSi 100 x 100mm Nano IRND 4.5 Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, and measures 2mm thick.100 x 100mm neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.Providing a 15-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters. Each surface includes one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared light as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts due to increased exposure times.Nano coating provides an improved beading effect with water or oil for more efficient cleaning.Constructed from optical glass for clarity.Leatherette pouch included for storage and transport.Featuring an ND0.9 reduction in light and compatible with their P1 filter holder, the 3-Stop Glass Filter from NiSi is a neutral density filter that is built from high-quality optical glass and gives a minimal color cast. Thanks to its double-sided construction and multi-layer nano coating filter, it is waterproof and oil-/scratch-resistant.How to Use ND Filters: Beyond the BasicsThe NiSi 100 x 150mm Nano Medium-Edge Graduated IRND 0.9 Filter is a rectangular filter that helps to darken specific areas of an image such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a medium-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a medium-edged line of transition can filter the sky while minimizing its effect on the land. It is particularly useful for images that include elements like rooftops and mountains that protrude into the sky. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and this filter provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light from entering the lens. The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light.
