It records uncompressed video with 4:2:2 color sampling at 10-bit in Quicktime format, and also records video using either ProRes or DNxHD codecs. With two SSD slots, you can record almost endlessly as one SSD becomes full, recording automatically continues on to the other. The HyperDeck Studio features one 3G-SDI input and three SD/HD/3G-SDI outputs plus a loopthrough output, and one HDMI input and one HDMI output. All outputs, except the loopthrough SDI, are always active, so playback is available on both the SDI and HDMI outputs no matter what input it was recorded from.The Studio 2 is a 1RU rack mountable unit, with built-in rack mount ears. It features illuminated front panel button control and a jog/shuttle wheel for analog scrubbing. RS-422 control is supported for external control. You can also control the unit using either the USB port or over Ethernet via the RJ45 connector. With a compact form factor and easy-to-use controls, the Mini Converter is ideal for a variety of broadcast, post production, and professional AV applications.Using 6G-SDI technology, the Mini Converter supports resolutions up to Ultra HD 4K (3840 x 2160) at up to 30 fps and DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) at 24 fps, as well as SD, HD, and 3G-SDI signals. It supports all SDI-related transmission features, including embedded audio, ancillary data, and even handles ASI signals - asynchronous signals that carry multiple compressed programs that can be at varying transmission speeds. The 12G-SDI connections can support video with resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 fps and rout those individual signals to a switcher via SDI outputs, to a program monitor via its own SDI output, and back to the camera operator while carrying talkback audio over a single cable. Talkback audio can be captured via a microphone plugged into the XLR jack on the front, or a headset mic plugged into the appropriate jack, also on the front panel.This unit can be upgraded to accept fiber optic connections, which carry, bi-directional 4K video, audio, and talkback for up to 28 miles without signal degradation. Standard copper wire SDI cables have a limit of several hundred feet before the signal breaks up, converting the SDI signal to optical, and sending it along optical cable greatly increases the distance of your cable runs.Talkback and TallyThe unit features a built-in speaker and mic inputs, as well as a headphone jack for when you need privacy, or the area is too loud. When connected to the ATEM Camera Converter without needing to worry about walkie talkies. Using the talkback feature, the unit uses audio channels 15 and 16 of the SDI stream for talkback communication.
Camera operators can be selected individually if desired, and communication can be controlled by a push button, or locked open. Mute and un-mute buttons on the front of the unit allow you to control who hears what.The unit passes SDI Tally signal information back to the cameras along with any SDI Program signal from available switchers.Precision Signal ProcessingThe unit features chips that use 10-bit processing, and are switchable between SD and HD, for a clean signal.
